Research findings using A-6 (RCB1517), a hematopoietic progenitor cell
line established from the mouse ES cell line AES0001 (H-1) available
from our Cell Bank, have recently been published.
Mechanism Underlying Hematopoietic Stem Cell Self-Renewal Uncovered:
Potential Application to Ex Vivo Expansion of Hematopoietic Stem
Cells – Kumamoto University
https://ircms.kumamoto-u.ac.jp/publications/2026/09/suppressing-glutamate-dehydrogenase-guides-hematopoietic-stem-cell-divisions-into-self-r.html

A-6 (RCB1517) is a cell line established from the mouse ES cell line
AES0001 (H-1). Upon stimulation with SCF (Stem Cell Factor), A-6 cells
can differentiate into erythroid cells, neutrophils, and macrophages.
Multipotent hematopoietic progenitor cell lines such as A-6 are valuable
and have been used in research on hematopoietic stem cells.
Recently, research findings obtained using this cell line were published
in a scientific journal:
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-026-77151-6
The study demonstrated that inhibition of glutamate dehydrogenase and
activation of the JAK-STAT pathway promote the self-renewal of mouse
hematopoietic stem cells. These findings are expected to contribute to
the future development of technologies for the ex vivo expansion of
hematopoietic stem cells.

・ Guidance on Depositing or Transferring Cell Materials
===================================
The RIKEN BRC Cell Engineering Division accepts deposits
and transfers of newly developed cell materials. If you have
established a new cell line, we encourage you to consider
depositing or transferring it to our division.
https://web.brc.riken.jp/en/requests/deposit

When submitting materials, we ask for confirmation of any
intellectual property associated with the cell line. This
includes licenses related to technologies used during cell line
establishment, as well as licenses for the original (parent) cell
line in the case of modified or derivative lines. Additional
information may be requested as needed. Please note that
these confirmation procedures may require some time before
the deposited cells can be accepted.

Furthermore, RIKEN BRC has reached agreements regarding the
deposit and distribution of the following bioresources:
・ Demeetra AgBio, Inc.: bioresources containing the piggyBac(R)
  transposon
・ InvivoGen: bioresources containing the Zeocin resistance gene
  and/or GFP::bsr
Please see the details below.

・ For Those Considering Depositing Cell Materials
===================================
Cell vials deposited with us are temporarily stored in the
vapor phase of liquid nitrogen (-196°C). To ensure safety and
maintain cell quality, we kindly ask that you use cryovials
suitable for liquid nitrogen storage when preparing materials
for deposit.
General microtubes designed for -80°C storage may:
・ rupture when exposed to liquid nitrogen
・ fail to maintain appropriate storage conditions, potentially
compromising cell quality.
For these reasons, please refrain from using such tubes.

・ Editor's note
===================================
In Japan, this time of year marks the gradual transition into autumn,
a season often associated with reflection and a renewed sense of rhythm.
As we move into the latter half of the fiscal year, it is a natural
moment to look back on our progress and consider the work that lies
ahead.
Following the release of this MAILNEWS, the BRC Open House will take
place. As a valuable opportunity for visitors to learn more about the
activities of the RIKEN Cell Bank, we are steadily preparing for the
event and look forward to welcoming participants.
Wishing you well during this period of transition. K.N.
