Announcement Prepayment of distribution fees (overseas organizations only)
The RIKEN BioResource Research Center (BRC) is a non-profit institution funded by the Japanese Government. We have been engaging in collection, preservation and distribution of bioresources, with the aim to support research and development in the field of life sciences. We provide bioresources to scientists not only in Japan but also throughout the world with minimum fees that is solely reimburse for preparation and handling costs of the requested bioresources. To continue the smooth distribution of bioresources for overseas organizations, it has become necessary to send bioresources prepaid.
We sincerely hope that this change will not cause any inconvenience our users. We very much appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and are looking forward to receiving your requests for our bioresources.
The prepayment of distribution fees for overseas organizations will apply to all orders for bioresources from Monday February 1, 2016 (Japan standard time).

We provide a sysytem online payment by credit card through a cryptographically protected connection, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).
How to obtain resource ( In detail )

Step 1: Go to https://cellbank.brc.riken.jp/cell_bank/WebSearch/ and serch cell lines you will order.
Step 2: Go to https://cell.brc.riken.jp/en/forms and choose an order form. If you choose “Order Forms (Bank transfer)”, go to Step 5.
Step 3: Fill out the resource number, quantity and other information on the order form, and then send it with 1 set of Material Transfer Agreement and 1 set of Approval Form (when it is required) by E-mail. Regarging Approval Form : https://cell.brc.riken.jp/en/forms ･Many Resources have no restriction on their use, however, if a prior written permission of the approver (depositor) is required as stated in the Terms and Conditions column of the cell data, please obtain the depositor’s approval. ･To obtain written permission, please complete the Approval Form (C-0006)and send it to the Depositor. Upon receiving the written permission, please return it to us together with the other forms. Depositors and Originators are listed on the website as the “approvers” of each Resource. ･If you can’t find their names or if you have any questions, please contact us by E-mail (cellbank.brcriken.jp).
Step 4: We will review your order and send you an invoice and the payment instruction by e-mail as a PDF attachment. The RECIPIENT should prepay the distribution fees before bioresources to be shipped are prepared. Regarging : By bank transfer. If you choose the payment by credit card, we will send an e-mail with the subject, “Online payment from RIKEN BioResource Research Center” to your registered e-mail address.
Step 5: Please open the attached URL, check the detalis and input your credit card information after you receive the invoice.
Step 6: When your payment is completed, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Please keep it if you need.
Step 7: Each international order will be sent in a dry-ice-frozen box through international couriers (FedEx, World Courier, TNT Express, DHL Global Forwarding and others). Human iPS cells should be shipped using dry shippers. The cell fees must be paid to RIKEN in advance of the shipment. The shipping fee is charged directly by the carrier.
