Hep G2 is a very popular cell line available from many major repositories around the world. It has been described so far that the origin of Hep G2 was hepatocellular carcinoma. However, as has recently been reported (see reference) it was highly likely that Hep G2 had been derived from hepatoblastoma. Please keep in mind this fact when you use Hep G2 cell line in the future studies.
